Legacy

Carlmont's girls' swim team remains undefeated this season, with the girls' 200-meter freestyle relay event qualifying for the state competition. Sydney Niles claimed the 11th spot at CCS in the 200-meter event, and Katelin Kwan achieved the 34th position in the 50-yard freestyle. Kelsey Leung, Sydney Niles, Katelin Kwan, and Piper Diehn received first-team honors, while Claire Guglielmi and Sofia Kim received second-team honors.

In addition to the numerous awards the girls' swim team has received, sophomore Emily Borchelt hopes that the team continues to "be number one in team spirit next year." Borchelt's swimming experience revolves around team spirit.

"My favorite memory this season was when my relay team won, and the rest of the team was cheering us on," Borchelt said.

Team

Carlmont's boys' swim team secured second place in the league, losing only to Aragon. Ziad Sellami, Zerach Chan, and Myles Hu received first-team honors, while Joshua Lin, Peyton Ting, and Ryan Choong received second-team honors. Lin, who has been swimming since he was young, saw many seniors graduate last year, leaving many gaps to fill.

"I think a lot of people stepped up this year to raise the spirit and make sure everyone was on task while swimming. In that way, we've had a lot of people grow to become stronger leaders on the team, and I think it will carry over next year," Lin said.

In addition to team growth, Lin also emphasized the importance of team spirit. He hopes to support his team as a senior and "make sure that the spirit takes priority and that Carlmont stays the most spirited team."
